Why 3D matters for overhang

In a 2D X-ray image the electrode layers of a cell overlap, and only some of them are sharp. CT separates every layer and measures the overhang on each one.

From the research lab to the line

Laboratory CT serves cell development and failure analysis. At the production line, a gantry CT inspects defined regions of each cell – such as the corners – in short scans.

Typical parts

  • Cylindrical, prismatic and pouch cells
  • Modules and packs
  • Electrode stacks and jelly rolls
  • Tabs, busbars and weld connections
